Thomas Piché Jr. is director of the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. He has been an independent curator and critic as well as director of the Roland Gibson Gallery, the art museum of the State University of New York at Potsdam; and assistant director and senior curator at Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY, where he worked for almost twenty years.
Exhibitions organized by Piché include “Only an Artist: Adelaide Alsop Robineau, American Studio Potter” (2006), “Some Assembly Required: Collage Culture in Postwar America” (2003), and “Carrie Mae Weems: Recent Work, 1992-1998” (1998).
He has contributed essays to numerous exhibition catalogs and artists’ monographs, including Revelation: Lane Twitchell, Drawing and Painting (2007), Sculpture Space [the book] (2006), and Robert Kipniss, Intaglios 1982-2004 (2004).
Additional art criticism by Piché has appeared in Sculpture, NY Arts, American Craft, American Ceramics, and I.D., The International Design Magazine, among other publications. He is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam (BA) and Syracuse University (MA).
